How Pleasant View Began

Timeline of Pleasant View
​1953 - The original building was built.  It consisted of 9 classrooms and a multipurpose room.  15, 621 sq. ft. 
1955 - Bellview was moved to the back of Pleasant View (using rolling logs)
1956 - Addition of kitchen and expansion of multipurpose room.  5, 695 sq. ft. 
1961 - Addition of 4 classrooms.  4, 952 sq. ft. 
1964 - Addition of 4 classrooms and dressing rooms.  7, 143 sq. ft. 
1968 - Pleasant View became part of SPS.  Addition of 2 junior high classrooms,. 4 elementary classrooms, offices and special services.  8, 420 sq. ft. 
1970 - Addition of shop, home exconomics, and music.  6, 542 sq. ft. 
1982 - Addition of gym .  11, 235 sq. ft. 
​1986 - Addition of a learning resource center.  5, 483 sq. ft. 
1994 - Conversion to middle school.  Pleasant View was the first middle school.  The was a major shift in organizational alignment to help with the stress of students moving between grade levels.  The middle school housed grades 6, 7, 8.  New technology center, 4 classrooms, 1 science lab, 1 orchestra room, and revisions to multipurpose room.  18, 849 sq. ft. 
2000 - Addition of 2 modular classrooms.  1,584 sq. ft.
2006 - Bond passed to install air conditioning.
2019 - Bond passed to install secure entrance.

1870 - Cherokee Elementary and Middle School Built - originally known as "Kickapoo South" - part of Kickapoo R-VII
1873 - Eastwood Junior High - became Lincoln in 1883 - eventually leased to OTC
1923 - Jarrett Middle School built
1923 - Pipkin Middle School built
1923 - Reed Middle School built
​1925 - Study Middle School built
1951 - Hickory Hills elementary - added middle school in 1961
1953 - Pleasant View built - added to SPS in 1968
1957 - Pershing elementary - added middle school in 1965
